Mr. Thomas worked in the United States Senate for nearly a decade, culminating in over six years of experience on the Senate Appropriations Committee. During his tenure as a professional staff member on the Senate Appropriations Committee, he had direct oversight over more than $5 billion annually in direct federal appropriations while working with a team overseeing a total of $20 billion in annual spending. Agencies under his purview included the Department of Energy’s Fossil Energy programs, the Office of Surface Mining, the Bureau of Land Management and the Department of Interior’s Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Mr. Thomas’ extensive knowledge of the mining industry and world class conservation practices will greatly enhance Mongolia Forward’s vision to responsibly utilize Mongolia’s vast pool of natural resources. Following his tenure on Capitol Hill, Mr. Thomas has represented a myriad of domestic and international clients spanning the energy, telecommunications, agricultural, defense and aviation industries with a strong track record in increasing market share and strengthening his clients’ competitiveness in their industries.

Thomas continues to work closely with an extensive list of contacts throughout Capitol Hill, the White House Administration, federal agencies and non-governmental organizations.

Thomas graduated from Lewis and Clark College with Honors in Political Science and a focus on International Affairs. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Thomas lives on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC with his wife and son.
